1borneo

The much talked about hovercraft service has yet to materilize.  The condominums are still under construction.  Despite the fact that 1Borneo is still so much of a work in progress,   i t   i s   currently the most ‘happening’ place in Kota Kinabalu!   Positioning itself as a lifestyle destination. 1Borneo houses branded stores such as Nike, Reebok, specialty stores like Toys R Us, and other music and movie stores.  I enjoy the interesting mechandise at Daiso, the Japanese concept of a  $5  store.   There are, of course, strings of other outlets to patronize.  Interesting place!

Looking forward to the hovercraft service!  It was reported that 1Borneo will be the first mall in Malaysia (and perhaps Asia?) to operate a hovercraft service.   Still recall the piece of news back in 2007 about this service ?  Maybe not.  But I gathered it was a piece of news which probably has also excited everyone else!

Christmas at 1Borneo!

with 4 comments

no chirstmas is complete without decorations, lights, and colors. with the christmas drawing near, many shopping malls have been decorated in creative and vibrant ways. 1Borneo, being the largest hypermall in Borneo has to have something a lil’ bit more impressive than other malls!! indeed, a beautiful set up – brings out that magical wonderland feelings in children and adults too!

yesterday, the hypermall launched, among others, its new stage shows with a gigantic ”fairytale castle”, with falling “snow” as it smain backdrop. the castle is reported to be 40ft high!  the place was crowded when we visited and will sure continue to be crowded as long the ’set up’ is there! :)

themed “a magical  christmas at 1borneo”, the hypermall  is all ready for Christmas this year!

This Sunday

"I don't have this at home!"

"That one? Can buy? I dont have that at home!"   "This one also, I dont have this at home!"

So, today is the last day of SIE 2008.  After breakfast, we decided to drop by to see what’s there!  We were warned that 1Borneo would be very crowded and that it would impossible to find a parking space, otherwise lots of stuff to see!   Well, luck was on our side, it didnt take us long to find a good parking space!

Obviously there were many items that require scrutinizing, would need to come back some other day perhaps during the weekdays.  We would have to miss the expo tho. Ian was probably feeling drowsy.  Poor dad – he ended up just carrying him…not quite all the way though.  He became alert and started to move about when we stepped into Toys’R’Us.  AND we got stuck here for quite some time coz’ there were just too many items Ian wanted to bring back!! We’re not about to give in! It’s heartbreaking to say no and see his “muka 10sen” …but i guess it’s better to start exercising some limits.. It didnt take long for him to recover tho’, as soon as we were out of the building and he started seeing construction activities, he was already all OK.

There you are….as easy as eating peanuts!  If i was alone with him  – I would probably have given in!!

What’s new?

without comments

My sister Joan and I chatted over the phone yesterday. We used to hang out at Coffee Beans WM during lunch break -talking about all sorts of stuffs:O I miss our lil’ chats!  She lives in the US now but it feels like she still lives nearby! We read each other’s blog – maybe that’s why! Anyway, she asked ‘what’s up in KK?” .

The ‘happening thing’ right now is probably the RM1B 1Borneo.  Let the truth be known, yes I haven’t set foot into 1Borneo yet!!  I tried to last weekend but the place was just so packed!  No parking space after looking for some 20 minutes, I just simply left!  My friends told me the place is awesome!  With “hypermarket, department stores, specialty shops, mega book shop, mega sports store, 36-lane bowling centre, 10-screen cineplexes, fitness centre, corporate office towers, a 230-room hotel,a specialist medical centre, college and more…”  this place definitely augurs well for the tourism industry in the state!

KK Times Square is another spot of this kind, just smaller. The complex is divided into two phases – office blocks and The Mall. Again, we are talking about a comprehensive range of shopping, leisure and entertainment facilities here.  I read in some magazine that The Mall will even offer boat rides!

KK is fast developing. There are other interesting spots.  Wisma Merdeka or Center Point is beginning to sound ‘ancient’!!
