While Mom tends her garden, Dad, on the hand has his hands full – tending his fruit rchard! He has been looking forward to rambutan season – apparently arrive 2-3 months late this year!

His rambutan trees leading all the way up to the house are now laden with soon-to-be red juicy rambutan fruits! There are just tons of them. ”We will share them with the squirrels!”, he said.
He was just joking!

Visited Mom & Dad this afternoon. There are always additions, something new in Mom’s garden. ”Enjoying this white ones while waiting for the peach ones to re-appear”, she said.

And these pink ones? I don’t know its name nor can Mom remember. Aren’t they cute? It appeared right infront of the verandah, what a perfect location! You’ll surely be entertained while sipping your cup of tea – if you enjoy nature that is

quiet saturday
“A strange thing happened to me today. I saw a big thundercloud move down over Half Dome, and it was so big and clear and brilliant that it made me see many things that were drifting around inside me.”
-Ansel Adams (February 20, 1902 – April 22, 1984)

By thursday this week, I was already wishing for the impossible to happen – for Saturday not to ”arrive ” so soon. What a wish huh?! I had a couple of outstanding errands to run which I did not want to drag on to the weekend. Glad that’s out of the way!
After lunch, took the opportunity to pamper myself while the rest of household members went to the market! Did a little shopping for myself. Not only Ian’s wardrobe needed an ‘upgrade’, mine too! Love window shopping alone, it’s one of the ‘free-est’ things you can do and enjoy! Yes, I did wish for saturday to be little longer too!

Enjoy your weekend!

this morning’s goodness!
This morning’s weather was nice, started bright and sunny, however rain started pouring down shortly after these pictures were taken.

Anthuriums in general have real bright red or pink spathes. MIL had them grown in flower pots. It’s cute nickname, so I ve learned, is “naughty boy”! hah!
O r c h i d s
Orchids, I think are Malaysians’ favourites. Popularly demanded by both commercial gardeners and hobbyists like MIL. She must have about 6-8 different species altogether.

n o t o r c h i d!

It’s still raining or drizzling rather, am loving this kind of weather! Like Ive mentioned, love to have a little bit of rain for a change. A different note – not been going out much lately. The “too many things too little time” thing is getting on to me again!
Have a great weekend!

nightblooming cactus
P r e t t y i n W h i t e !

Daniel said, “Look at this! This is rare”. My sister’s little cactus sprouted such a big flower! Daniel took some snaps of it. I gathered my sister would love to see how her cactus is doing. I don’t think I have been doing a good job tending it…practically left it to survive on its own !!
There it is … close up

I found out that this particular species is referred to as night blooming cactus, among other names. It is well known for its blossoms that bloom just one night a year. When morning comes, that’s it! the show is over! What a strange thing! We were lucky to have to have witnessed it still in bloom the next morning! (Please send me a message if my details are inaccurate)
To think the bloom is just for one night, this cactus must be special. Nature certainly holds some strange secrets.

mom’s garden(4)
t o d a y, a f t e r t h e r a i n

The morning started out fine, and fine it was until 4.30pm. Such heavy, heavy downpour with lighting and thunder! Was at Mom & Dad’s . What I noticed rightaway when I reached there was Mom’s garden – totally, totally blooming!! Mom kept it neat too. Can’t help but take pictures and blog about it. I was there about two weeks ago! weeks ago, and it didnt quite look like in this picture. I should come early morning next time, the time when all flowers are in full bloom! Most of Mom’s flowers can handle full sun, which makes is so much easier to maintain. More pictures later (hope I wont forget; I normally do. like I wite TBC at the very end of my blog entry and I never remember to come back and continue!)

It’s been said that the color Green has a calming effect – basically soothes our mind when we’re stressed (by looking at it!) Ian loves green (for now I guess). He associates green with Ben10, one of this favorite cartoon shows! I ’googled’ about this color for more details. Here’s what I found. Interesting!
Green is the color of nature, fertility, life. Grass green is the most restful color. Green symbolizes self-respect and well being. Green is the color of balance. It also means learning, growth and harmony. Green is a safe color, if you don’t know what color to use anywhere use green.
Green is favored by well balanced people. Green symbolizes the master healer and the life force. It often symbolizes money. It was believed green was healing for the eyes. Egyptians wore green eyeliner. Green eyeshades are still used. You should eat raw green foods for good health. Friday is the day of green. Green jade is a sacred stone of Asia.
Put some green in your life when you want:
- a new state of balance
- feel a need for change or growth
- freedom to pursue new ideas
- protection from fears and anxieties connected with the demands of others

I like this “shrub” but I’ve no idea what it’s called. This is one of my MIL’s possibly 60? 70? pots of plants! They are all lovely – give the ‘green feeling” – as if we have a garden when we don’t actually have one :)

“Money plant” – easy to care. Probably almost every household has this plant!

Photo taken at Nexus Karambunai. I would like my future house to a be surrounded by the greens!
So, today is friday once more. Loving it simply because it’s end of work week. Looking forward to two full days doing my own things, own pace, own rules!
Friday is the day of green. Have a green friday & enjoy your weekends!
