random trip

zzo1This trip was totally unplanned. Ian wanted to see the ‘ruins’ of Chan Furniture.  The fire gutted the storeroom of the furniture outlet before spreading to the aluminium workshop where stacks of wooden planks were kept.  I mistook this furniture outlet for another, so we totally missed it! My little guy was already getting so impatient.

We ended up driving around looking at ‘things’  and ended  at Lok Kawi Wildlife Park Our last trip here was sometime last year. Each time time I visit this place, there’s always seem to be some improvements or upgrades.  For instance, from the junction leading to the park, there are stalls selling snacks, DSC01663drinks and some other handicraft items.

Additional restaurants and a few other office blocks? Two or three sort of “chalets” nearby a newly opened restaurant  were  under construction.   I like the fact that the owner embraces the “local  concept” for his restaurant – nice and different enough to attract tourists to patron … hmm open air and shoes off please! (pic on the right is not the restaurant!)

The park so happened to be having an ‘open day’ so we got to ride its ‘train’ without charge.  The ride was the last trip for the day, lucky us we got there in time !  This train ride is a new service to be offered to the public sometime soon (with DSC01682charge!)  Ian said, “Mom, this is like Thomas and friends”!

First time train rider, sitting tight and holding on to the reel!  There were several kids sitting in front of us.  Like Ian, they too were equally excited, asking so many questions,  Most of the time repeatedly asking  the questions, “what’s that?” and “why?”.

There are reasons kids particularly go all excited when they see elephants.  I think it’s because of their loud roar and their size!  This was the spot where the driver was kind enough to stop twice!  As soon as this train stopped, several kids incuding Ian, jumped down.

These pygmy elephants DSC01676were eagerly waiting for someone to feed them!  Did not take many pictures.  Took with me d90 but without the memory card! Smart me!
