should or should not
Tuesday
As parents, we will definitely be concern when our school-age child or children start complaining that he or she is not feeling well on a school day.
When Ian complains the same, the first thing that comes mind is “should I let him stay home or he goes to school”. While I do not want to keep him home if he really isn’t sick, at the same I also do not want to send him to school, knowing very well that he has complained of being sick.

About 2 weeks ago, a bee sting left him confined to just home for three days. This week, he missed out on school since Wednesday. At first, I thought it was probably anxiety – being new with homeworks, attending classes, rushing for morning assembly, being on-time etc – all these, I thought, were alleviating his anxiety. But throwing up in the mornings surely made us think otherwise. Dr mentioned he has “stomach virus”. It appears that this is common and should not persist once medications have been taken. This is comforting.
Last night, he joined us for an official dinner function. One hour into dinner time and running about, he threw up. What’s left to console me was him being so active as if throwing up was not a big deal. But, when he vomitted for the second time, we quickly headed home. **We should get him well-rested and allow time for him to recuperate**.
On other notes, still on Ian

1. School work – He has loads of homework at times. I’m not sure if ‘loads’ would be appropriate for kindy? He has already shown preference in subjects – he finds Abacus or Math class interesting compared to Chinese, or English to Chinese.
2, Bribing of some sort – Do you think ‘bribing’ kids is healthy? Is there any other word to describe this ? Bribing as in “if you do this, you will get … ”. We have done this and it works at times. Other times, just fall on deaf ears … which is OK to me. Though this trick works sometimes, I don’t particularly like to stick to this kind of ‘parenting style. I read what’s related by Megan in her article about bribing, makes a lot of sense.

you’re into it is what really matters
Don’t matter really - messy, neat, organized … what matters is you are into it. You like what you’re thinking, you like what you are doing, you like what are thinking or imagining. You just know it’s good for your brain! Sometimes, not minding the condition of our surroundings tend to get beautiful ideas in droves, at least in my case. When I’m so engrossedly concentrating on a particularly work, i’m always left clouded with so many imaginations about what else I can do after – the finishing touch, the additions etc – lots of nice stuff there … at that point of time. Ideas flowing like that totally occupy my mind though I know some of them are probably impossible to achieve… probably… Point here is – my house requires major cleaning up!! LOL Well, thank God it’s Friday… Happy weekend!

the past weeks
First off, ain’t the following picture simply amazing? I’d like to be able to ‘make pictures’ like this. Lovely…. more here
The past weeks have been rather hectic. Moving stuff and so forth. However, things have slowed down a bit and other activities have started cropping up, for instance weekend tutorials will be starting, infact this sunday. I see days ahead rather packed, which is good – keeps me going! I realized I don’t blog as much too. These days, I have more posts pending than posted! Less blogging, less pictures
I think this “momentum” is probably going to stay like this …
at least for a while …

On 3 things : 1. Ian got stung by a bee last week and this happened right within the vicinity of the school. Of course, I was upset and worried. The sort of questions that came to mind were “what kind of school is this?” “Perhaps I need to enrol him to a different school?, etc” But it was a “bee sting” and it could happen anywhere, right? The pain and swell subsided after taking medication for 1-2 days. The best thing we could do was caution the school teachers and administrator … that it could have been worst! Thank God, he’s Ok now.
2. I finally found the guts to give-away some, just some, of Ian’s baby stuff. I’ve a friend who needs similar baby stuff. “Perfect”, I thought. “I can finally give Ian’s baby stuff away, rather than just leaving them packed up in those storage boxes to get musty ”. But what happened was … as I went through his baby’s clothing, I find myself sorting through saying, “Well, maybe I’ll just keep this. And this. And this.” I ended up, retaining, still another 3 more boxes full of his stuff. Guess I need more time! It was hard. There”re just many memories attached to every outfit. So friend, you know who you are, I actually still have lots of ‘em tucked away:)
I know these clothes do not fit him anymore – talking about footie pyjamas and the like – clothes that will continue to sit in storage boxes going to no good use if … I don’t already start that quilt I “long time ago” plan on making! I actually did thought of keeping some to make a quilt out of them (or giving them away) I know too that keeping them all is at all not space-friendly, but I have the hardest time letting them go! I guess it’s just hard to see him grow up so fast! I’m sure you had a hard time giving yours away too, no?
3. Mom and Dad are of course delighted to know that Joan and her family will be coming back. Infact, they have been asking every now and then the when, what and where….
Well, i better knock off now. It’s actually already 3am! Enjoy your weekend!
after a hard day’s work
“Hard work without time for recreation is not good for one’s health, all work and no play isn’t healthy! “
Riding bicycle or running about with his neighbor is Ian’s latest activities as soon as he reaches home from school. Shower, homework, dinner – all these can wait! Yes, he has homework now . I dont recall having to finish any homework when I was this age. Ooops … that’s because I didn’t attend kindy but enrol for elementary school right away – the kind of arrangement we have at that time. Well …I enjoyed taking the following candid pictures and…I’m ready for the weekend! You?

Have a wonderful weekend even if you aren’t ready
starting again
So, we’re now five days into 2010! And how did one decade pass by so swiftly? Yesterday, it,was,Ian’s first day of school. After more than a week holiday, it was expected that we’d run late!
r e l u c t a n t i n d y – g o e r !
First, Ian had a hard time waking up - we purposely let the alarm run as long and as loud so that he’d get up on his own. I know he will do better in the days to come. Then, he exercised his delay-tactics - asking for this & that, wanting to watch one show of Tom & Jerry first, etc. With pouting lips and whine all the way to school, he also complained of tummy ache, headache, sore throat and what not! However, he was much better this morning, arriving school at least 10 minutes ahead of time! I’m not sure how tomorrow would go. This holiday hangover would normally last for about a week or so.
t a k e p i c t u r e, p l e a s e !

I didn’t quite know how he would react wearing uniform for the first time. He probably felt good but was just not in the mood to show it. When we picked the uniforms in December, he did whisper to me if he could have a blue one instead of pink! (apparently, the uniforms are only available in pink! ) But the good thing is… his sports wear for fridays is in blue and yellow, so that took care of this little situation:)
Frankly, I’ve thought of enrolling him for a piano class, but looking at how he much he enjoys the water, decided to hold on to the idea.
t a k e a p i c t u r e o f t h i s t o o (then… we hit the road!)

So, he’s all excited about this swimming lessons with friends at school. When I picked him up yesterday, his teacher reminded us to pack his swimming gears and attire. As soon as he got into the car this evening, he said to me, “Mom, You ask k me… did I swim today? No, I didn’t!” He asked and answered his own question; I sensed it was his way to voice out his little dissapoinment. What happened was official lessons would only start next week. This week is sort of an orientation week for the kids. I think this is a good arrangement; surely the kids need to get use to their new environment before starting off with classes ya.
happy new year 2010!

Amidst the busy-ness and busi-ness of seeking continued good health and happiness, and more wealth,
let us remember to color each brand new day with peace and love!
New year message from the bottom of our hearts!

Updated post
after 5 days of holidays
After 5 days of holidays, it’s really difficult to get started. Today, the office was almost empty as everyone has long gone for their year-end holidays. I scribbled a couple of things on my to-do list but the mood to get those done was definitely not present!
Dropped by the bank by lunch hour to get my sister’s bank transaction done. A good thing, what normally takes more than 30 minutes only took less 10 minutes! Pleasant environment, no queue, no hassle! Your guess is as good as mine – most people are still tucked away in their respective corners, wherever they are.
Well, in just two more days, we’ll be celebrating new year 2010! Some notable 2009 accomplishments of Ian : completed pre-school, able to recite numbers and alphabets confidently, can read and write some words including his name, shows strong preference in technical stuff and quite a conversationalist! By any measure, year 2009 was a fruitful year for us! So, 2010! What do I wish to accomplish? Frankly, a whole lot that it just can’t be described in a couple of sentences! Before my eyes right at this very moment are wishes which everyone else would wish for too I’m sure, for continued good health and happiness, and more wealth!
twas’ the morning after
it was early. still donned in pyjamas but wide awake, the little boy uwrapped all his christmas presents with such excitement. he knew what was coming. now, he wants everyday to be just like Christmas Day:) and you know surely can guess why
